Ebonyi ADC Faces Internal Strife Ahead of 2027 Elections

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ebonyi State is currently facing internal strife as rival factions vie for control ahead of the 2027 general elections. The two main blocs consist of members loyal to former governor Dr.

Sam Egwu and those aligned with Jennif Adib Nwafor, a former aide to ex-governor David Umahi. Allegations have surfaced regarding Nwafor's connections to the All Progressives Congress (APC), which she has denied.

Recent state congresses resulted in the emergence of two faction chairmen, with Sila Onu from Egwu's faction and Nwafor retaining her leadership role. The ongoing discord has raised concerns about the ADC's viability in the upcoming elections, with political observers suggesting that the crisis could hinder the party's chances.

Kingsley Agbor, a chieftain of the Labour Party, commented on the situation, indicating that the internal conflicts reflect broader issues within Ebonyi's political landscape.
