University of Calabar Students Protest Non-Accreditation of Pharmacy Course

Students at the University of Calabar staged a protest over the non-accreditation of the Pharmacy course, citing the institution's failure to meet basic accreditation standards set by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN). The students claim that the program, which started in 2016, lacks proper resources and infrastructure, leading to concerns about a severe shortage of lecturers and inadequate facilities.

The university's public relations officer, Eyo Effiong, denied the allegations, stating that the students were not engaging in a protest but seeking a meeting with the vice-chancellor to address the situation.
