Zamfara Government Sets Deadline for 2027 Budget Inputs

The Zamfara State Ministry of Budget and Planning has initiated preparations for the 2027 annual budget estimate, urging emirate councils and traditional rulers to submit community inputs by September 4, 2026. A stakeholder town hall meeting was held on Tuesday at the College of Arts and Science (ZACAS) Hall in Gusau, themed “Planning Today, Building a Prosperous Zamfara Tomorrow.” Prof. Yahaya Zakari, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, emphasized the commitment of Governor Dauda Lawal's administration to inclusive, transparent, and accountable governance.

He stated that the budget serves as a blueprint for delivering services and projects to the populace. Prof. Zakari outlined four platforms for citizen participation in the budget process, including MDAs, town hall meetings, bilateral budget discussions, and public hearings at the Zamfara State House of Assembly.

He urged participants to focus on pressing community needs such as Peace and Security, Education, Health, Agriculture, Infrastructure, Water Supply, Youth and Women Empowerment, and Social Services. The 2027 budget will prioritize security, agriculture, social welfare, and economic development.
