Zamfara Begins 2027 Budget Preparation with Town Halls

The Zamfara State Government has commenced town hall meetings to prepare the 2027 Annual Budget Estimate, marking a move towards inclusive governance. The opening ceremony took place on Wednesday in Gusau, the state capital.

Professor Yahaya Zakari, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, stated that the engagement aims to ensure the budget reflects the real needs of the people and aligns with the administration's commitment to transparency and accountability. The town hall meetings will be conducted across the three senatorial districts: Zamfara Central, Zamfara North, and Zamfara West, providing equal opportunities for all communities.

Governor Dauda Lawal's administration emphasizes listening to citizens during the planning stage to strengthen trust between the government and the governed. Sani Abubakar Bukkuyum, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Budget and Planning, underscored the budget's role in guiding government spending and facilitating dialogue between the government and citizens.
