Kaduna Widows’ Estate Sees Rise in Occupancy Amid Security Ease

The Kaduna Widows’ Estate, developed in partnership with the Family Home Fund and the Federal Ministry, has recorded a significant rise in occupancy as security fears diminish. Dr.
Mustapha Umar Kumsh, the facility manager, reported that although 100 housing units were allocated to beneficiaries late last year, initial hesitance to relocate was due to perceived insecurity and poor access. The estate was inaugurated with attendance from Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani and other dignitaries.
As of early this month, 65 of the 100 housing units are occupied, with efforts to address misinformation and security concerns. The estate is equipped with essential infrastructure, including solar power systems and constant water supply.
However, challenges remain, such as beneficiaries facing issues with access to homes due to fraudulent activities. The estate aims to provide safe and affordable housing for vulnerable women, particularly widows, with the project launched in November 2025.
