Atiku's Fuel Subsidy Stance Challenges Tinubu's Administration

Austin Okai, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), stated that Atiku Abubakar, the party's presidential candidate, has dealt a significant political blow to President Bola Tinubu's administration by addressing the issue of fuel subsidy restoration. In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, Okai emphasized that the controversy extends beyond the mere question of subsidy restoration, highlighting the importance of accountability, transparency, and the policy's impact on Nigerians.

He challenged the Federal Government to provide a detailed account of the financial gains from the removal of the subsidy, including the total amount saved, the deployment of those funds, and the specific projects financed with the savings. Okai pointed out that despite the government's claims of enormous savings, many Nigerians continue to face economic hardship, questioning the whereabouts of the savings.

He asserted that the future of the subsidy should be determined by economic realities and the welfare of the populace.
