Nigerian Actors Reveal Financial Struggles Despite Fame

Veteran actor Sunday Afolabi, known for his role in "Owo Blow," has shared his financial struggles, revealing that he sold his Nissan Quest for ₦180,000 after it was unusable for nearly two years. He then purchased a motorcycle and began working as a commercial minibus driver in Lagos due to declining opportunities in acting and photography.

Similarly, Abiodun Ayoyinka, who portrays the iconic character Papa Ajasco, stated that his earnings have drastically decreased to ₦45,000–₦60,000 per episode, despite the show's long-standing popularity. He expressed that he has no house or car, attributing his financial situation to the decline of sitcoms and restrictions on the Papa Ajasco character, which limited his advertising opportunities.

Producer Wale Adenuga disputed Ayoyinka's claims, stating that he has been supported and is free to pursue other jobs, provided he does not use the trademarked character without permission.
