NFF Reschedules 2026 Elective Congress for AFCON Match

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has rescheduled its 2026 elective congress to Sunday, September 27, 2026, from the original date of Saturday, September 26, 2026. This decision was made during an extraordinary virtual General Assembly on Wednesday, led by NFF President Ibrahim Gusau.

The change accommodates the Super Eagles' opening qualifier for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations against Madagascar, which is set for Friday, September 25, 2026, in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State. The NFF recognized that many candidates for the elective congress would be unable to attend the congress in Lafia, Nasarawa State, the following morning after the match.

Consequently, the NFF Executive Committee convened the extraordinary general assembly to propose the new date for the congress. A motion was moved and seconded during the assembly, finalizing the new schedule.
