Iwobi Leads Arsenal's Record Player Sales at £40 Million

Alex Iwobi, a Super Eagles midfielder, is Arsenal's most expensive player sale, with his transfer to Everton in the summer of 2019 valued initially at £35 million, rising to approximately £40 million with add-ons. Iwobi progressed through Arsenal’s Hale End Academy and made over 140 appearances for the club, contributing important goals and assists under former manager Arsène Wenger.

His transfer set a benchmark for outgoing deals at Arsenal, highlighting the club's success in developing homegrown talents. Following Iwobi, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ranks second on the list of biggest sales after his £35 million move to Liverpool in 2017.

Folarin Balogun, another academy graduate, is third, having transferred to Monaco in 2023 for an initial fee of £34.3 million. Cesc Fàbregas, who returned to Barcelona in 2011 for £30 million, ranks fourth.

Arsenal's youth development system has proven financially beneficial, generating substantial income through these sales.
