Supporter Killed in Lagos APC Primary Election Violence

During the APC primary election held on Saturday in Ikotun, Lagos State, a violent clash erupted among rival supporters, resulting in the death of one supporter and injuries to several others. The incident occurred at a primary school in the Il Iw Egb area, where the primary election was taking place.

Tensions escalated when an argument broke out among supporters, leading to chaos as gunshots were fired. Eyewitness Taofeek described the scene, noting that people began to flee for safety as confusion ensued.

One person was confirmed dead, and others were rushed to the hospital with injuries. The situation prompted a heavy police presence to restore order, although no arrests were confirmed at the time.

Efforts to reach the Lagos State Police spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi for comments were unsuccessful. The incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding electoral violence in Nigeria, particularly during party primaries.
