Suspected Kidnapper Arrested Over ₦3m Ransom in Akwa Ibom

On August 25, 2026, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command arrested 29-year-old Otuekong Enoidem, suspected of involvement in the kidnapping and murder of a victim named Koffi. Enoidem, an indigene of Akai Ubium Village in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, was apprehended around 11:30 pm during an intelligence-led operation.

This arrest followed ongoing investigations into Koffi's kidnapping and murder, which was reported to the police on August 24. Enoidem was allegedly attempting to collect a ₦3 million ransom from Koffi's family at the time of his arrest.

The police recovered the victim's mobile phone, reportedly used by the kidnappers for ransom communications, which is expected to be crucial evidence in the investigation. The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, commended the operatives for their professionalism and assured the public of continued efforts against kidnappers and violent criminals in the state.
