Suspected Kidnapper Arrested in Oyo While Collecting Ransom

A suspect was arrested by the Oyo State Police Command while attempting to collect a N10 million ransom for the release of Alhaji Bagudu, who was reportedly abducted from Ilowa Village last week. The incident occurred in Otefon Village, Atiba Local Government Area.

The police confirmed the arrest on Thursday, stating that credible intelligence led to the operation. The suspect was apprehended on Wednesday at 1:00 PM while gathering with other gang members in Otefon Forest to receive the ransom.

The operation was conducted in collaboration with the Vigilant Group Nigeria. Preliminary investigations revealed that six armed men invaded Alhaji Bagudu's residence on May 9, 2026, abducting him and demanding the ransom.

During the arrest, the suspect, identified as Moham Sanni, engaged in a gun duel with the police, resulting in his capture while others fled. Items recovered from the scene included a motorcycle, a mobile phone, and a pair of slippers, which are undergoing forensic analysis.
