Eight Nasarawa State University Students Abducted

On the night of May 6, 2026, eight students from Nasarawa State University were abducted by suspected terrorists in Gudi, Akwanga Local Government Area. According to Ramhan Nansel, a spokesman for the state police command, a distress call was received reporting that a group of armed hoodlums stormed the students' lodging at Anguwar Ninzo on the outskirts of town.

Six of the victims have been identified as students from the Faculty of Engineering at the university's Gudi campus. Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police for Nasarawa State, Shetima Jauro, visited the scene to assess the situation and reassure the university community.

The police command has committed to the safe rescue of the abducted students and has strengthened ongoing operations in the area. A combined security team, including personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, has been deployed to track down the abductors and ensure the victims are returned unharmed.
