Swiatek Dominates Pliskova to Advance at Wimbledon

Iga Swiatek, the reigning champion and third seed, overpowered former world number one Karolina Pliskova with a score of 6-1, 6-3 in the second round of Wimbledon on Thursday. This victory comes after Swiatek's unexpected last-16 exit at the French Open the previous month.

She made a strong start, racing to a 4-0 lead in the first set. When asked to compare her performance to the first round, Swiatek expressed that she felt more emotionally prepared and sharper.

In the next round, Swiatek will face 29th seed Alexandra Eala, who previously defeated Serena Williams. This match marks Swiatek's 26th Grand Slam appearance, where she aims to advance further after not reaching the third round since the 2019 US Open.

Notably, Pliskova struggled to hold serve and could not maintain momentum after initially leading 2-0 in the second set.
