SWIS Africa Launches Initiative for Women in STEM

SWIS Africa has initiated a program aimed at increasing women's participation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields across Nigeria. This initiative will implement a partnership with the Top100 Future African Leaders to equip young women with the necessary skills, mentorship, and professional networks to thrive in STEM-related careers.

The program will select 44 final-year female students from universities across the country as part of its flagship SWI Empower program. The initiative seeks to support the transition of these students into higher education and careers in academia, industry, and entrepreneurship.

The program will address persistent gender gaps in STEM by tackling barriers such as limited access to mentorship and career guidance. Selected participants will undergo structured training followed by an intensive eight-week mentorship program, culminating in a project presentation.

The initiative is supported by the European Union and emphasizes youth-led solutions to promote gender equality and economic inclusion.
