SWIS Africa Launches Initiative for Women in STEM

SWIS Africa has launched an initiative aimed at increasing women's participation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields across Nigeria. The initiative will implement a partnership with Top100 Future African Leaders to equip young women with the skills and mentorship necessary to thrive in STEM-related careers.

A total of 44 final-year female students from various universities in Nigeria will be selected for the flagship SWI Empower program, which seeks to support their transition from higher education to careers in academia, industry, and entrepreneurship. The program will include structured training followed by an intensive eight-week mentorship program, pairing participants with experienced professionals to gain practical insights into their careers.

The initiative, which is supported by the European Union and the Global Youth Mobil Youth Empower Fund, aims to address the persistent gender gap in STEM by tackling barriers such as limited access to mentorship and career guidance. The program will culminate in a project presentation where participants will showcase innovative ideas.
