APC Remains Strong in Bayelsa Despite Sylva's Defection

Yekini Nabena, the former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), asserted that the party remains intact in Bayelsa following the defection of former Governor Timipre Sylva. In a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja, Nabena expressed confidence that the APC would succeed in upcoming elections, regardless of Sylva's departure.

Sylva, who previously served as Minister of State for Petroleum, announced his resignation from the APC on Monday, citing a departure from the party's founding ideals. Nabena claimed to represent about 90 percent of Bayelsa APC members and stakeholders, affirming their commitment to the party and its candidates, including support for President Bola Tinubu's re-election in 2027.

He acknowledged Sylva's contributions to the party but emphasized that the APC in Bayelsa has grown beyond any individual. Nabena's remarks reflect a determination to maintain party unity and focus on leadership rather than party affiliation.
