Army Chief Advocates for Security Agency Synergy

On March 25, 2026, during a meeting at the Army Headquarters in Abuja, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), highlighted the critical need for unified coordination among security agencies to effectively tackle Nigeria's evolving security challenges. This statement was made during the maiden familiarization visit of Inspector General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

COAS Shaibu stressed the importance of strengthening collaboration and sustaining inter-agency synergy, which he described as the cornerstone for addressing prevailing internal security threats. He commended the long-standing strategic partnership between the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Police Force, noting that cooperation is vital for achieving national security objectives.

IG Disu expressed appreciation for the Army's commitment to developing police capacity, particularly through training and mobilizing personnel, which significantly enhances operational effectiveness across multiple theaters. The COAS reaffirmed the Army's commitment to deepening joint command philosophies and acknowledged the invaluable support of the Nigerian Police Force in ongoing operations against banditry and kidnapping in Kogi, Kwara, and Niger states.
