Dispatch Rider Killed in Lagos Tanker Collision

A fatal road accident occurred in Lagos State, resulting in the death of a dispatch rider after a collision with an empty NIPCO tanker, registration number TTN 776ZQ. According to Adebayo Taofiq, spokesperson for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), preliminary findings indicate that the tanker driver was allegedly speeding when he collided with the dispatch rider, leading to the rider's instant death.

In the aftermath, LASTMA officials responded swiftly to prevent a breakdown of law and order, as an aggrieved crowd attacked the tanker driver. LASTMA personnel displayed professional restraint, successfully extricating the driver from the hostile crowd, while the Lagos State Ambulance Service transported the injured driver to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment.

Olalekan Bakar Oki, the general manager of LASTMA, expressed condolences to the family of the deceased rider and emphasized the need for road safety, warning against reckless driving and excessive speed as major causes of road accidents. The police have deployed to restore calm and are investigating the incident.
