Taraba Intending Pilgrim Dies Before Hajj Flight

Hajiya Dado Hammadu, an intending pilgrim from Sardauna Local Government Area in Taraba State, passed away shortly before her scheduled flight to Saudi Arabia for the Hajj pilgrimage. She fell ill upon arriving at Yola International Airport and was subsequently rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Yola, where she was diagnosed with low blood pressure.

Hamza Baba Muri, an official from the Taraba State Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board, confirmed the incident during a telephone interview. Dado Hammadu died on May 11, 2026, just hours after falling ill.

Her family consented to her burial, which took place in Yola the following morning. She was among 415 pilgrims scheduled for the first batch of the Taraba State 2026 Hajj airlift.

The funeral prayer was attended by special advisers and officials, including Alhaji Hamman Adama Tukur and Malam Jamal Abdul Nasir.
