Court Adjourns APC Primary Election Suit in Taraba

On Wednesday, the federal high court in Jalingo, Taraba State, adjourned a suit regarding the APC primary election due to the absence of the defense counsel. The suit was initiated by Princess Leah Olusiyi Solomon, who is challenging the outcome of the APC primary election for the Jalingo, Yorro, and Zing federal constituency.

Solomon argues that the primary election was not conducted in three local government areas of the constituency. During the court session, the counsel representing the incumbent member of the House of Representatives was absent, making it impossible for the court to proceed.

Barrister Piu Danba Piu, representing the plaintiff, expressed surprise at the absence of the defense counsel, emphasizing the importance of serving relevant court processes. The case has been adjourned to July 1, 2026, for further proceedings.

Additionally, a similar suit was filed by APC aspirant Juliu Ardo Kola Karim Lamido, seeking to nullify the APC primary election results for the Lau federal constituency, alleging that the election was not conducted according to party guidelines.
