Taraba State Expands STEAM Education Initiative for 2027

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has approved full government funding for the expansion of the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education program, set to begin in Kashinbila in 2027. The initiative aims to broaden innovative learning opportunities for children across the state, as directed to the Commissioner for Education (Nursery and Primary Education) in collaboration with the Sarauniya Aishatu Baju (SAB) Foundation and other partners.

This development follows a four-week program on the Mambilla Plateau, implemented in partnership with the Peace Institute, Wellesley College, and Harvard University, which engaged over 1,200 children, including those with disabilities. The program focused on practical, creativity-driven learning, enhancing children's confidence, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Professor Hauwa Ibrahim, President of the Peace Institute, emphasized the program's impact on children and communities, while AIG Dr Aishatu Abubakar Baju highlighted its practical dimension. The expansion signifies a shift towards inclusive education in underserved communities.
