Taraba Police Confirm Deaths of Officers in Bandit Attack

The Taraba Police Command confirmed the killing of three police officers and a local vigilante leader during a bandit attack in Taraba State. The incident occurred following a distress call from residents of Tordamisa in Akat Ward, reporting an invasion by armed men suspected to be bandits.

A police team led by the Divisional Police Officer of Donga, supported by special forces, was immediately deployed to restore order and protect residents. Upon arrival at Tse Kwe Village, the officers encountered heavy gunfire, resulting in a fierce exchange during which three officers and the vigilante leader were killed.

The slain officers were identified as Corporal Raphael Danjuma, Constable Ebenez Daniel, and Constable Samuel Bawa. The local vigilante leader, Nutsa Tyav, aged 60, was also killed.

The Commissioner of Police for Taraba State expressed shock at the incident, describing the deceased as heroes who paid the ultimate price in service to the community. She extended condolences to the families of the victims and assured that their sacrifices would not be in vain, while also reinforcing security in the area.
