Taraba State Records 46 Lassa Fever Deaths in 1 Year - WHO Report

Taraba State, Nigeria, has recorded 46 deaths from Lassa Fever in one year, with 100 confirmed cases. The World Health Organization (WHO) identified Taraba among the five states with the highest number of confirmed Lassa Fever cases in the country.

Surveillance Officer Halilu Sani Abubakar revealed that 380 suspected cases were reported across 16 local government areas, with 46 fatalities in four local governments. Jalingo, Bali, and Gassol local government areas were highlighted as hotspots for the disease.

Taraba's high prevalence of Lassa Fever cases poses a significant health challenge, with the state reporting the highest number of cases in the country. The need for intensified efforts to combat the spread of the disease is crucial.
