ASUU Taraba Disowns Reports on VC Suspension Meeting

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at Taraba State University has publicly disowned reports alleging their participation in a meeting concerning the suspension of Vice Chancellor Professor Sundai Paul Bako. This statement follows a report from a Taraba-based newspaper claiming that Governor Agbu Kefa suspended the Vice Chancellor and dissolved the university's governing council.

ASUU Taraba State University Chapter Chairman, Dr. Joshua Garba Mbave, described these reports as false, misleading, and malicious.

He emphasized that the union was neither invited to nor participated in any discussions regarding the suspension or dissolution. Dr.

Mbave also highlighted that the law governing the establishment of the university does not grant unilateral power to suspend principal officers or dissolve the governing council. The union demanded a public apology from the media for misrepresenting their involvement and reiterated their ongoing grievances with the state government, including issues related to pension schemes and unpaid salaries.
