Nigeria Launches Free Tax Dispute Resolution Platform

The Federal Government of Nigeria has introduced a tax ombudsman platform aimed at resolving tax-related disputes at no cost to taxpayers. Taiwo Oyedele, the Minister of Finance, unveiled this initiative during an event at Stratton Hotel in Abuja.

The platform includes a website and a toll-free call center, enabling taxpayers across Nigeria to engage in a simplified dispute resolution process without unnecessary administrative delays. This launch is considered a significant milestone in Nigeria's fiscal reform journey, promoting a credible tax system based on fairness and transparency.

John Nwabueze, the Chief Executive Officer of the Office of the Tax Ombudsman, emphasized that the platform is designed to provide taxpayers with an independent and impartial mechanism for addressing complaints and resolving disputes. The initiative aligns with the ongoing tax reforms under President Bola Tinubu's administration, which aims to simplify tax administration and enhance voluntary compliance among taxpayers.
