Tinubu's Tax Ombud Office Aims for Fair Tax System

The Nigerian Information Minister, Mohammed Idris, described the Office of the Tax Ombud as a significant institutional reform initiative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, aimed at ensuring fairness, transparency, and accountability in Nigeria's tax system. During a courtesy visit to the leadership of the Office of the Tax Ombud in Abuja, Idris highlighted the government's commitment to building trust between taxpayers and tax authorities.

He noted that the office is intended to protect taxpayer rights and promote public confidence in tax administration. The minister also mentioned that the office would work to raise public awareness about its role and the importance of tax compliance.

Dr. John C. Nwabueze, the Chief Executive Officer of the Office of the Tax Ombud, stated that the office would serve as an independent mechanism to resolve taxpayer complaints.

The meeting included various directors from media organizations, emphasizing the collaboration needed to enhance public enlightenment on tax reforms.
