TCN Schedules Six-Hour Power Outage in Ogun Communities

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced a planned six-hour power outage that will affect several communities in Ogun State on Thursday, May 14, 2026. According to a statement released by TCN, the outage is necessary to conduct scheduled maintenance on a 40MVA 132/33kV power transformer at the McPherson Transmission Substation.

The maintenance exercise is set to take place from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. During this period, the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) will be unable to supply electricity to customers in the McPherson University and Ogunmakin areas.

Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager of Public Affairs at TCN, stated that the maintenance work is essential to improve service delivery and reduce the risk of unexpected faults in the transmission network. TCN has apologized for the temporary inconvenience to residents and businesses and urged consumers to bear with them until the maintenance is completed.
