TCN Commissions 300MVA Transformer at Katampe Substation

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has officially commissioned a new 300MVA, 330/132kV power transformer at the Katampe substation in Abuja. This installation is part of a strategic effort to increase the substation's capacity from 450MVA to 750MVA, thereby enhancing the overall power availability for the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) and improving electricity distribution to consumers in the region.

Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager of Public Affairs at TCN, announced the commissioning on a Monday, emphasizing the company's commitment to expanding the transmission network. Engr Musa Shuaibu, the General Manager of Transmission for the Abuja region, noted that the installation underscores TCN's dedication to supporting increased power delivery and enhancing grid stability.

The project was executed in collaboration with the World Bank as part of a broader initiative to rehabilitate and expand Nigeria's transmission network.
