TCN Refutes PHEDC's Claims on Wheeling Capacity

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has publicly debunked comments made by the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) regarding its wheeling capacity. TCN's General Manager for Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, clarified that TCN's current operational capacity stands at 7,300MW, with a verified potential of 8,700MW.

Mbah described PHEDC's social media post as misleading and aimed at inaccurately informing the public. TCN highlighted its commitment to strengthening Nigeria's grid infrastructure through significant investments, including the construction of transmission lines and substations.

The company also noted recent milestones in energy transmission, including a peak generation of 5,801.84MW on March 4, 2025, and successful energy dispatches during peak hours. TCN called on stakeholders to verify information to ensure accurate public communication regarding the state of Nigeria's grid infrastructure.
