TCN Launches Anti-Vandalism Campaign in Niger State

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) held an anti-vandalism sensitization campaign in Lambata, Gurara Local Government Area, Niger State, as part of ongoing efforts to protect transmission infrastructure and enhance reliable bulk electricity supply nationwide. During the campaign, General Manager of Transmission, Engr Musa Shuaibu, expressed gratitude to the district head and security agencies for their participation.

He highlighted the alarming increase in vandalism incidents, which have historically disrupted power supply and plunged communities into darkness, particularly affecting essential services like hospitals. Engr Shuaibu noted that vandals often sell stolen transmission components for negligible amounts, leading to prolonged outages and severe consequences.

He further stated that vandalism impedes the growth of Nigeria's power sector, diverting funds earmarked for network expansion and new projects to replace damaged infrastructure. DSE Adah Ngbede from the NSCDC warned that severe consequences await perpetrators, emphasizing the need to protect TCN facilities.

District head Alhaji Ibrahim Salihu appealed to the community to embrace TCN's partnership initiatives.
