TCN and PHEDC Dispute Nigeria's Power Transmission Capacity

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) are engaged in a dispute regarding Nigeria's power transmission capacity. TCN, represented by Ndidi Mbah, refuted PHEDC's claims that the operational capacity is between 4,000MW and 5,000MW, asserting instead that their current transmission wheel capacity stands at 8,700MW.

TCN criticized PHEDC for using outdated figures and urged them to verify their information publicly. The company highlighted that the daily output on the national grid is determined by the distribution companies' nominations, and any discrepancies could undermine public trust in the electricity sector.

TCN also noted that they have made significant investments in infrastructure to enhance capacity. The company emphasized the importance of accurate communication among stakeholders to avoid misinformation that could negatively impact policy and investment decisions.
