TCN Announces 122-Day Rehabilitation of Amuwo Substation

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that the rehabilitation of the Amuwo 132/33kV substation in Lagos will last for 122 days, commencing on March 18, 2026, and expected to be completed by July 30, 2026. This project is part of TCN's efforts to strengthen the power supply infrastructure in the area.

To facilitate a safe kickoff for the rehabilitation, temporary power interruptions will occur starting March 18, allowing for the decommissioning of the Amuwo substation. This outage will affect customers in Apapa, Ilashe, and Atlantic Cove, resulting in brief disruptions to their electricity supply.

Ndidi Mbah, TCN's General Manager of Public Affairs, clarified that power supply will be restored after the decommissioning process is successfully concluded. TCN disclosed that 40MVA and 30MVA mobile transformers will be deployed to the Amuwo transmission substation, enabling EKEDC and IKEDC to continue power distribution to customers during the project period.
