TCN to Restring Benin-Ajaokuta 330kV Line, Power Cuts Expected

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a restraining project for the Benin-Ajaokuta 330kV transmission line at the Ihovbor Power Plant, scheduled to commence on Friday, February 27, 2026, and conclude on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. The daily work will take place from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

This exercise is necessary to enable TCN's contractor to continue the restraining work on the transmission line that connects to the Ihovbor Power Plant. The project will require temporary power interruptions along the transmission line, particularly affecting areas along the major highway on the Benin-Ajaokuta axis.

The safety agency has been notified and will ensure public safety throughout the construction period. The Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) will be unable to supply electricity to customers in the Uniben, Oluku, Egba, and Ihovbor areas for approximately 10 hours daily during the construction.

TCN has apologized for any inconvenience this may cause and assures customers that full bulk power supply will be restored upon project completion.
