TCN Announces Benin-Ajaokuta Transmission Line Restringing

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has scheduled a restringing project for the Benin-Ajaokuta 330kV transmission line, which will commence on Friday, February 27, 2026, and conclude on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. The daily work will take place from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, necessitating temporary power interruptions along the transmission line, particularly affecting areas along the major highway on the Benin-Ajaokuta axis.

Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager of Public Affairs at TCN, stated that the project is essential for enabling contractors to continue their work on the transmission line connecting to the Ihovbor power plant. The Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) will be unable to supply electricity to customers in the affected areas, including Uniben, Oluku, Egba, and Ihovbor, for approximately 10 hours daily during the construction period.

However, power supply will be restored daily from 6:00 PM until 8:00 AM the following day. TCN has apologized for any inconvenience caused and assured customers that full bulk power supply will be restored upon project completion.
