TCN Restores Alaoji-Owerri 132kV Transmission Lines

On June 23, 2026, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced the successful restoration of the Alaoji-Owerri 132kV transmission lines 1 and 2. The lines were de-energized on June 23, 2026, due to a fault identified by TCN's maintenance crew.

The crew mobilized immediately to the site to commence repair work, successfully restoring line 1 by approximately 7:25 PM the same day. This restoration allowed for a partial restoration of bulk electricity transmission to Imo State, Bayelsa State, and parts of Rivers State.

To safely repair line 2, it became necessary to temporarily de-energize line 1 due to the proximity of two high-voltage transmission lines, which posed a safety risk. The maintenance work was conducted in coordination with the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) and the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) and Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC).

TCN expressed appreciation for the patience and understanding of electricity consumers affected by the outage and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a reliable and efficient transmission network.
