TCN Restores Alaoji-Owerri 132KV Transmission Lines

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced the successful restoration of the Alaoji-Owerri 132KV transmission lines on June 23, 2026. TCN's maintenance crew identified a fault and mobilized to the site to commence repair work, successfully energizing Line 1 at 7:05 PM and Line 2 at 7:06 PM on June 24, 2026.

The repairs allowed for the partial resumption of bulk electricity transmission to Imo State, Bayelsa State, and parts of Rivers State, specifically Yenagoa and Ahoada. Due to safety concerns, Line 1 was temporarily de-energized to facilitate repairs on Line 2, as the proximity of two high-voltage transmission lines posed a risk.

The maintenance work was conducted in collaboration with the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) and the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) and Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC). TCN expressed appreciation for the patience and understanding of electricity consumers affected by the outage and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a reliable and efficient transmission network.
