TCN Restores Alaoji-Owerri 132KV Transmission Lines

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced the successful restoration of the Alaoji-Owerri 132KV transmission lines, which had tripped on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. TCN's maintenance crew identified the fault location and mobilized to the site to commence repair work.

The lines were successfully energized at 7:05 PM and 7:06 PM on June 24, 2026. Ndidi Mbah, TCN's General Manager of Public Affairs, confirmed that Line 1 was restored to service around 7:25 PM on June 23, enabling the partial resumption of bulk electricity transmission in Imo State and Bayelsa State, including Yenagoa and parts of Rivers State, such as Ahoada.

The de-energization of Line 1 was necessary to safely repair Line 2 due to the proximity of two high-voltage transmission lines, which posed safety risks. The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) approved the temporary outage, and the restoration was undertaken in coordination with EEDC and PHEDC.

TCN expressed appreciation for the patience of electricity consumers affected by the outage.
