Teacher Detained After Drama Presentation Sparks Panic

Peter Shodip, a teacher at Ojokoro Junior College in Lagos, was detained following a drama presentation that unintentionally triggered panic among students, who believed they were experiencing a real-life bandit attack. The incident occurred during a co-curricular program organized by the National Value Education Department, aimed at educating students about insecurity, particularly banditry and kidnapping.

Sources within the school indicated that Shodip was merely carrying out an approved educational assignment. Confusion arose when students, not properly briefed, shouted "bandit" during the performance, leading to chaos as frightened students fled the school premises.

The Lagos State Police Command, represented by Tijani Fatai, later described the situation as content creation, warning against raising false alarms regarding security issues. However, Shodip's colleagues strongly contested this characterization, asserting that the event was not intended for social media content creation but was part of a broader educational initiative.
