Eight Family Members Buried After Deadly Plateau Attack

On Friday, a mass burial was held for eight family members killed during a violent attack in Mbwell Village, Bokko Local Government Area, Plateau State. The attack occurred around 11 PM on Thursday when gunmen invaded the community and opened fire for nearly an hour.

The victims, including Elder Iliya Mangut Daku and several members of the Daku family, were laid to rest by Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo. The burial drew attention to the ongoing security concerns in the region, with local leaders expressing anger over the lack of protection from security forces.

Kefa Mallai, the chairman of the community peace observatory in Bokko, noted the rising tension and the community's desire to protest against inadequate security measures. Youth leader Christoph Luka described the killings as devastating, highlighting that the attacks primarily targeted families.

The burial took place amid ongoing security operations in the state, where troops had recently neutralized ten terrorists in Wase and Kanam Local Government Areas.
