Technical Fault Delays Fourth Evacuation Flight from South Africa

The fourth evacuation flight from South Africa, operated by Air Peace, was delayed due to a technical fault identified during pre-flight checks. A crack was detected in the cockpit windscreen, preventing the aircraft from departing as scheduled.

The flight was initially set to leave Johannesburg at midnight on July 7, 2026, and was expected to arrive at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos at 5:00 AM on Wednesday. The Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented by spokesperson Margaret Ebeshi and Kimiebi Ebienfa, expressed apologies for the delay and the inconvenience caused to the stranded Nigerians.

They assured that arrangements would be made to ensure the safe return of the evacuees as soon as possible. The flight is now expected to be deployed later on Wednesday to complete the evacuation process.
