Tegbe Urges Police to Protect Nigeria's Power Infrastructure

On a courtesy visit to the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, Minister of Power Joseph Tegbe called for intensified efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to combat energy theft and vandalism affecting critical power installations in Nigeria. The meeting, held at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, focused on the urgent need to secure energy infrastructure, as widespread theft and destruction of electrical equipment hinder reliable power supply across the nation.

Tegbe was accompanied by senior ministry officials, including Permanent Secretary Mahmud Mamman, Director of Distribution Mustapha Baba-Umara, Director of Energy Resources Kingsley Eneh, and Special Assistant Martins Olajide. Disu assured Tegbe of the police's commitment to safeguarding national grid infrastructure and prosecuting those responsible for power sector crimes.

Nigeria's power sector suffers significant financial losses annually due to these issues, leading to frequent grid collapses and poor power supply.
