Sabalenka Advances to US Open Semi-Finals After Comeback

Aryna Sabalenka, the two-time defending champion, advanced to the semi-finals of the US Open after a hard-fought victory against Linda Noskova, winning 7-6 (7-1), 3-6, 7-6 (10-7). In the deciding set, Sabalenka trailed 4-2 and later 2-0 in the tie-break before recovering to secure the win.

This match marked her 19th consecutive victory at the US Open, having not lost since the 2023 final. Sabalenka is the first woman since Serena Williams in 2016 to reach six successive semi-finals at Flushing Meadows.

She expressed her happiness at being in a position to potentially achieve a three-peat title, stating, “I’m just super happy that I put myself in the position where I have chance to go for the three-peat.” Sabalenka will face Jessica Pegula in the semi-finals, who also made a comeback to defeat Emma Navarro. Sabalenka's victory ensures she retains her world number one ranking, although she could be overtaken by Elena Rybakina depending on the outcome of her match against Zheng Qinwen.
