Sinner and Alcaraz Triumph at Monte Carlo Masters

Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz commenced their clay-court seasons with impressive wins at the Monte Carlo Masters. Sinner, the second seed, completed a dominant match against Frenchman Ugo Humbert, winning 6-3, 6-0 in just 64 minutes, conceding only six points in the second set.

This victory marked Sinner's 18th success in Masters 1000 events and his 36th consecutive set win. Following this performance, Sinner is set to replace Alcaraz as the world number one in the upcoming ranking update.

Alcaraz, the defending champion, also advanced with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Argentina's Sebastian Baez in 70 minutes. Alcaraz, who has a 22-1 record on clay, is focused on defending his ranking points, while Sinner aims to maintain his momentum.

Sinner will face Francisco Cerundolo in the next round, while Alcaraz's next opponent will be either Tomás Martín Etcheverri or Francisco Cerúndolo.
