Tension in Edo State as Drug Syndicate Ambushes Security Operatives

In Edo State, a joint security team comprising the NDLEA and Nigerian Army was ambushed by a drug syndicate in Okpuj community while on a mission to eradicate a large cannabis plantation. The attack resulted in a gun duel, leaving an NDLEA officer injured.

Mitchell Ofoyeju of the NDLEA condemned the attack as an attempt to derail their operations against drug trafficking in the state. Despite setbacks, security agencies vow to intensify efforts to combat drug cartels in the region.
