Drug barons launched an attack on a combined team of NDLEA and army personnel in Edo State, causing injuries. The assault took place in Ukpuj town, Owan West Local Government Area, during an operation to disrupt illegal drug activities.

Mitchell Ofoyeju, the spokesperson for the NDLEA, confirmed the incident, stating that no lives were lost but officials sustained injuries. The team encountered resistance from local cultivators, leading to an exchange of gunfire and injuries.

The security forces had to retreat to safety, emphasizing the agency's commitment to intensifying efforts against drug cultivation and trafficking.
