Machete Attack at Lekki Cinema Leaves Two Dead

On Friday night, a violent attack occurred at a cinema in Lekki, Lagos, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. A man armed with a machete and a knife attempted to enter the cinema but was stopped by security personnel.

When the guards denied him entry, he became violent and fatally stabbed one of the security officers. Another guard sustained injuries during the incident.

Eyewitnesses reported that the attacker became aggressive when blocked from entering the premises. The motive for his actions remains unclear, although police spokesperson SP Adebisi Abimbola indicated that the suspect appeared destitute and was suspected to be under the influence of drugs.

Following the attack, a mob confronted the suspect, leading to his death. The identities of the deceased have not been released, and the condition of the injured guard was not confirmed at the time of the report.

The Chief Security Officer of the cinema has been taken into custody to assist with the investigation, which includes reviewing closed-circuit footage to reconstruct the events.
