Tinubu Meets Security Chiefs Amid Renewed Terror Attacks

On Thursday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu held a closed-door meeting with senior security chiefs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja to discuss the current security situation in Nigeria, particularly in light of renewed terrorist attacks in the northern regions. The meeting included a briefing from Minister of Defence Christoph Musa, who provided updates on military operations against terrorist groups, notably the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

Recent attacks in Borno and Yobe states resulted in the deaths of at least three senior military officers and several soldiers. Musa emphasized the need for accurate interpretations of the security situation and commended President Tinubu for his ongoing support of the armed forces.

He reassured Nigerians that the military remains committed to restoring peace and stability across the country. The meeting also included discussions on the acquisition of additional military equipment to strengthen the fight against terrorism and banditry, with a focus on adapting strategies to counter emerging threats, especially during the Ramadan period.
