US Military Aids Nigeria with Ammunition Delivery

On Thursday and Friday, US military aircraft delivered ammunition to Nigeria in a strategic move under the US-Nigeria defense pact, aimed at dismantling terrorist networks operating across the West African Sahel region. This operation is part of a broader effort by the US and Nigerian governments to tackle insecurity, particularly targeting threats to Christian communities.

Reports indicate that at least three US military aircraft landed at a military base in Borno State, with sources familiar with the defense cooperation between the two countries confirming the delivery of military supplies. The New York Times reported that the first batch of US military personnel, approximately 100 American troops, arrived in Nigeria to support the Nigerian armed forces in counterterror operations.

Additional aircraft, including C-30J military transport planes, are expected to arrive over the weekend. The Nigerian government clarified that the presence of US troops is limited to intelligence support and training as part of ongoing cooperation to combat terrorism and insurgency.
