Atiku Abubakar Critiques Tinubu's Counter-Terrorism Strategy

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President and a member of the African Democratic Congress, criticized President Bola Tinubu's counter-terrorism efforts, describing them as inadequate in addressing Nigeria's escalating security challenges. In a statement issued on Thursday by his spokesperson, Paul Ibe, Atiku highlighted the persistent attacks across Nigeria, including the abduction of students and teachers in Oyo and Borno States, as evidence of the government's failure to establish an effective counter-terror framework.

He pointed out that terrorists are learning from their attacks, refining their tactics, while the government is not evolving its strategies to confront these threats. Atiku questioned why the government has not acted on previous incidents, such as the Chibok abduction, and called for an immediate comprehensive review of Nigeria's national counter-terror policies.

He urged the government to draw lessons from past attacks and develop community-driven solutions rather than relying on foreign templates.
